Easter – God’s Love in Action

Easter is not just a holiday in the Christian calendar; it is the cornerstone of the Christian faith. At its core, Easter celebrates Jesus’ resurrection, this event – commemorated on Easter Sunday, a week after Palm Sunday and right after the Holy Week – signifies the triumph of life over death, and the fulfilment of the promise of eternal life and salvation for believers.

Although some Easter celebration can be tracked back further, the Christian celebration of Easter began to take shape in the second century AD. Early Christians commemorated the resurrection of Jesus Christ with a festival known as Pascha, which was held around the time of the Jewish festival of Passover. Over time, the celebration of Easter became more standardised within many Christian churches.

For Christians today, Easter is a time of deep reflection and spiritual renewal. Why is Easter celebrated?
