Key points
- The storyline doesn’t shy away from topics such as domestic violence, adultery, death and divorce.
- Punctured Heart left me cheering for the protagonist and desperate to find out what happens next.
- I give Punctured Heart 4 stars out of 5!
And while it has plenty of cosy, feel good moments, the storyline doesn’t shy away from topics such as domestic violence, adultery, death and divorce.
A gentle warning here, this book covers sensitive topics and we suggest readers exercise discretion.
Sheridan’s ability to tackle difficult, true to life situations in a Christian fiction format is what keeps readers coming back for more.
I like a good, gritty story and Punctured Heart certainly delivers!
“The perfect life is an illusion,” the blurb reads, going on to describe Victoria Burke as someone who “adores her husband, her children and her teaching career.”
The storyline doesn’t shy away from topics such as domestic violence, adultery, death and divorce.
“She remains devoted, but her husband’s betrayal and a tragedy which leaves her with emotional and physical scar shatters her world.
“Navigating the fragments of her broken existence, Victoria seeks solace and a fresh start in the unassuming Australian country town of Tellarine.”
Punctured Heart left me cheering for the protagonist and desperate to find out what happens next.
Thankfully, books two, three and four have already been written, and I can’t wait to dig into them!
I actually got to meet Sheridan recently, at the Omega Christian Writers Conference, and we’ve been chatting about Victoria’s adventures ever since.
Punctured Heart left me cheering for the protagonist and desperate to find out what happens next.
“Nicholas’s character was inspired by my husband,” she told me.
“I joke that Nicholas is basically a tall version of him… because I’m taller than him in real life!
“My hubby’s not a sparky, but Nicholas exudes a whole lot of his personality.”
Another fun fact?
Victoria was originally named Natalie, which was apparently one of the names Sheridan’s parents considered for her.
I give Punctured Heart 4 stars out of 5!
“When I discovered Nicholas’s name meant ‘Victory’, I looked up female names with the same meaning and settled on Victoria,” she said.
“I wanted her destiny to be hidden in her name.”
If you enjoy an emotional roller coaster, that leaves you cheering for the protagonist, while learning some genuine, quality life lessons along the way, perhaps Punctured Heart should definitely be your next read.
I give Punctured Heart 4 stars out of 5!
