Juicey News: Primary Health Network Raise Awareness Through Push-up Challenge

By Micaela Aboody

Primary Health Network are participating in the Push-Up challenge that is happening throughout June.

Gold Coast Primary Health Network CEO, Matt Carrodus, explains the challenge is raising awareness of people struggling with suicide in the community.

“There’s about 3,318 people who committed suicide in 2019, we are trying to do that many push ups over 25 days,” he said.

Many larger health care organisations such as the Gold Coast hospital and Wesley Mission are participating in the push-up challenge as well.

“We’ve all committed to do our push-ups every day to get to the target of 3,318. We are only 10 days into it out of 25 and we’re already up to 6,000, so we have well exceeded the target,” Matt said.

They are also raising awareness of the free online QPR (Question, Persuade and Refer) training course they have, which is designed to give everyone knowledge on how to help someone who is thinking of taking their own life.
