TLDR: Brekky hosts El and Jodie interview Jimmy Barnes about his upcoming tour and birthday.

Just the other day El and Jodie were blown away to be chatting with Cold Chisel icon Jimmy Barnes. Of course, they gave him a warm welcome and a round of happy birthday, as he celebrated his 65th birthday last April.

Jimmy’s birthday happened to fall on this year’s APRA awards where he gave a performance with blues rock singer Josh Teskey.

After stepping out of lockdown, Jimmy is overwhelmed to be out performing again, “that stepping out on a stage in front of an audience, is a different type of performing and it was just really great, and just really great to see the joy on people’s faces.”

Jimmy also had a birthday dinner with his family, many of whom are joining him on his new Flesh and Blood tour, set to hit Gold Coast in July. His son Jackie sits drums, while his daughters Mahalia, Eliza-Jane, Elly-May, and granddaughter Tyra do backing vocals.

The Flesh and Blood tour will include songs from his 20th studio album, most of which was written in lockdown. Indeed, Jimmy has been incredibly productive in lockdown, adding written works to his bibliography.

“This year in lockdown I’ve made two albums, my wife and I are writing a cookbook, a kid’s book, and I’ve also started writing two fiction stories.”

The Flesh and Blood tour will be hosted at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Sunday the 25th of July. To book and find out more head to https://www.jimmybarnes.com/news/announcing-australian-flesh-and-blood-tour-new-album/
