As global uncertainty grows, John Bevere’s 'The King Is Coming' invites Christians to revisit what the Bible says about the end times and how to live with wisdom and readiness.

Key points:

  • Jesus’ words in Matthew 24 remind believers to stay alert and not be deceived as the world faces uncertainty.
  • John Bevere’s ‘The King Is Coming’ unpacks biblical teaching on the end times with clarity, helping readers engage with Scripture more deeply.
  • While God’s love offers reassurance, Christians are encouraged to seek wisdom, stay watchful and understand the times they are living in.

“Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, saying ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many. And you will hear of wars and rumours of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” (Matthew 24:3-6 NKJV

Does any of that sound familiar? In these verses from Matthew we find the disciples asking Jesus for signs that the end is near. And honestly, if you spend even five minutes watching the news you can easily become convinced Jesus should just come already – wars, human trafficking, natural disasters… how much worse can things get!

However, John Bevere is quick to remind us that we serve a gracious, loving God who doesn’t want anyone to perish (2 Peter 3:9 NKJV).

While the world seems to be turning upside down, our God hasn’t changed, and His plan is the one that will prevail.

Perhaps you are like I was, believing with all my heart that He will one day return for His people therefore I didn’t need to get into the nitty-gritty details of Revelations – after all, it was going to happen whether I understood all the symbolism or not, right? But as John points out, this matter is one of the most discussed topics in the Bible. If it is that important to God, who are we to say ‘I don’t need to pay attention!’

The King Is Coming is easy to follow as John breaks down the scriptures with such clarity and respect for God and His word. There are prompt scriptures, questions and prayers that allow you more time to ponder and dive deeper into each topic, and it is also a fantastic tool to use in your small groups.

While we can be encouraged and rest in His love, we also need to heed His instructions and stay alert to the times and seasons we are living in.

Revelation 1:3 (NKJV) – Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.

James 1:5 (NKJV) – If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
