While most of us have returned to normal, more than 80 local residents – many of them elderly or vulnerable – have asked for help to get back on track after Cyclone Alfred.
Key points:
- With around 80 houses still needing work, Station Manager Annette McCaslin is encouraging everyone to do what they can to help.
- Andy Backhouse from Global Care is working alongside Volunteering Gold Coast to coordinate clean up teams on behalf of Gold Coast faith communities.

“There are apparently about 80 houses where the resident is in a vulnerable position and need help to remove debris,” said Juice 107.3 Station Manager Annette McCaslin.
“I would love to encourage all of us to do what we can to help.”

“We’re going to need crews right across the city over the next two to three weeks to get this done,” he told Juice 107.3.
“Most of the work is simple but impactful.”

Tasks include picking up branches, clearing garden waste and most of all, showing up with a servant heart.
“There is also some work for those who are capable chainsaw operators,” Andy said.
“There’ll be work every day, so even if someone has a few hours, they can join a crew and make a real difference.”
